“Jonathan Day is a musician of movement and of place – an artist who, whether through the experience of travel or through deep contemplation of his surroundings, has come to terms with his place in the world – and it is utterly beautiful.” Thomas Blake, Folk Radio UK, talking of Jonathan’s album A Spirit Library, which was their Album of the Year for 2019.
Jonathan plays lyrical contemporary rural music from the Berwyn mountains and Shropshire/Welsh borders. The songs are accompanied by gorgeous visuals.
In the year pre Covid Jonathan and the band played festivals in Jamaica, Hong Kong, Italy, Austria, Thailand and the UK, and recorded performances for the BBC, Channel 4 and TRT – and their hope is that the beauty of these places has seeped into the music.
