Make and Create

Art Town

Welcome all to Art Town! It’s time to get creative and let your inner artist come to life. Here you will find a wonderful and eclectic mix of free arts and crafts workshops for all ages and abilities from Thursday to Sunday. Each workshop will be run by an expert team of makers and will last between 1 – 2 hours. All materials will be provided for you and the workshops are completely free of charge. At the festival, just make sure to book onto your favourite workshop the day before.

We have 3 very exciting marbling workshops running each day by professional artist Erin Hughes. Dive into the enchanting world of paper marbling or clay marbling and leave with your own colourful creations. Or if you fancy stepping back into the 60’s, join Erin for a mind-bending liquid light marbling workshop!

We are lucky to have Gemma also joining us this year to teach a range of painting and collage workshops. You may have seen Gemma on your TV screens as she is a part of the CH4 daytime TV show Find It, Fix It, Flog It. It’s here Gemma upcycles the nation’s unwanted and unloved items of furniture into colourful and restored treasures.

Today Gemma’s practice focuses on art as a therapeutic tool. Her workshops explore the positive benefits art has on our mental health. Promoting creativity as a way to relax and unwind. Come and join her to create your inner masterpiece, paint a self-portrait, collage a postcard or craft a vision board!

Have you ever tried Cyanotype Printing? Use the power of the sun to create your own nature prints. Cyanotype printing is one of the earliest forms of photography, dating back to 1842! Emily Parris and her team will be running these paper printing workshops throughout the festival and will teach you all you need to know about this amazing craft.

These are just some of the brilliant workshops that will running here in Art Town. There will also be drop-in messy craft tables and other drawing workshops available which do not require booking. Keep your ears peeled for more updates and artists that will be joining us here!

Try your hand at a new artistic skill and take home your creations to show the family.

Who knows, Art Town may kick start a new hobby or lead the way for your children’s creative career path!
