The Original Vintage Beats Emporium – Pig’s Big Ballroom Line-up Revealed

Pig’s Big Ballroom is a Camp Bestival institution. The epicentre of the authentic old school, it’s where you’ll find beats, rhymes and giddy rhythms played by crack DJs on shellac 78s or from high octane live bands who all know a thing or two about styles as exotic and exciting as R&B, swing, skiffle, jazz, African, Latin, calypso, rock-a-billy, and rock and roll. Governed by the dashing Greg of Greg’s Greats renown and home to the mighty Shellac Collective, Pig’s Big Ballroom is a twisting, jiving, Shropshire-shaking den of delights that’s not to be missed.

Ensuring that things keep on swinging all weekend long at Weston Park, laid back rock hot shot Dean Friedman, who has inspired artists as diverse as Ben Folds and Half Man Half Biscuit, will play his hits, including Aerial and Lucky Stars, that defined a late 70s rock style. And the ballroom will jump to sets Tom Seals, Tony Tunes, Sound of the Sirens and The Antipoet. Blues folk and jazz comes courtesy of 4D Jones, Vance Gilbert and The Untouchables, and there is singalong joy with Karauke. Plus there are appearances from Alex Kirtley, Elizabeth and Jameson, Obidiah Scrumpet Warblers Jug and Pot Wash Band, Sakara and Hedge Inspectors.

“The Shellac Collective have been presenting sounds from the origins of popular music at Camp Bestival since the festival started in Dorset in 2008 and this Year promises to be the best Yet. We love performing here at Weston Park, and are so happy to present our mix of new talent and established artists steeped in modern music roots whether that’s blues, folk, swing, rhythm and blues, music hall or country. We are particular pleased to be able to present a set from Dan Friedman who is taking time out of his UK tour to join us”Greg Butler

Defining the term classic music, don’t miss out on the sonic treasures that Pig’s Big Ballroom has to offer.
